I went to the local bookstore a little over a year ago to buy the book “The Secret”. I had read a review of it in one of my magazine subscriptions, and it sounded like a book I might be interested in. And besides, the review implied I could have anything I wanted if I believed in this book, so I figured, why not me – there were lots of things I wanted.

I was unable to find the book at first, and the bookstore clerk told me that I couldn’t find it anywhere. It was being sold immediately, because Oprah had done a show on the “The Secret”. I knew I was going to read this book, and eventually, in a couple weeks, I was able to find a copy. Even before I knew what the law of attraction was, it was already working.

I read the entire book in an afternoon and realized that this way of thinking was a new beginning for me. I knew this was going to change my life for the positive. What an amazingly easy concept.

I started small though. I asked for a Coffee Mug. My professional job was working with the Military. Being an avid coffee drinker, I was looking for a Coffee Mug for my office that would compliment my personality, maybe be patriotic, and definitely be identifiable as my mug. I came home one Friday afternoon and there was a box that had come in the mail that day. It was from a Disabled Veteran’s Organization, and inside the box was a Coffee Mug. One side of the mug had an Eagle and a Flag imprinted on it, and on the other side of the Coffee Mug, my complete name was imprinted. My husband is a Disabled Veteran, but he did not receive a mug and I do not know of anyone else that has received a Disabled Veteran Mug with their name on it. It was perfect! Exactly what I was looking for. The mug came with no expectations of payment, but I did send that organization a donation because I believe in supporting our Veterans, and besides… it was the Coffee Mug I was looking for!

SO, now I’m hooked. I know the Law of Attraction works, so I decided to ask for something a little bigger. Well, maybe a lot bigger… I’ve never owned a luxury car, but have always wanted to own a Lexus. So I asked the Universe for a Lexus, and I believed without any doubt that I would get it. Don’t get me wrong, I was grateful for the car that I already had, but I was also very grateful for my little Coffee Mug which had already proved “The Secret’s” theory.

This time it took a little longer, six months to be exact, but I’ve been driving my Lexus now for five months, and I love it!! It’s everything I always thought it would be.

It’s not about having the possessions you’re asking for, although having those things you desire does bring happiness. I think it’s more about having the confidence to go out and believe in yourself, believe in the possibilities of things that can happen, believing in good things you see around you every day. It’s a way to start going after the dreams you have (whether or not you realize you’re going after them) and then being amazed at how easy it all is.

I love knowing the Secret – I wish everyone would believe like I do. My life is better each day…

Now I’m asking to lose another fifty pounds (I’ve already started, and have lost twenty pounds in the past couple months), and I’ve also asked to have Three Million Dollars in the bank within two years. It will happen – I’ll write back when it does!
