Starting off small…
Submitted by: Carly
Chandler, AZI am a 26 year old, living with the man of my dreams and my beautiful daughter! Enjoying life more than ever.
I happened to catch ‘Oprah’ a few months ago, where she was discussing the law of attraction. I bought ‘The Secret’ (book) about a week or so later. I read it in one sitting, and had some initial doubts. For example, in the book, it says to start small, such as with a cup of coffee. Envision someone giving you coffee for free. I mentally laughed that off, because I didn’t see how that would work for me. I just couldn’t see how that would necessarily apply to me.
About a week later, I pick up a colleague that I carpool with. For the last 9 months, I’ve driven us to work when we are on the same shift. It became a habit that I pick up our Starbucks coffees on my way to get her. She gets into the car that day and we go to work as usual, Starbucks in tow. Where does the Secret come in? We get to work, sit down outside for a few minutes prior to clocking in, and she says, “Oh! I have something that will make your day!” She hands me not one, but two Starbucks certificates good for any drink of your choice. She had gone there and they had messed up her order. Generally when this happens you get one, but she received two, which meant we both got our next coffees free. It took me a few days after that to realize what had happened! I said to myself, “Now, if the Universe returns small things to me that I barely give a thought to, imagine the return when I focus my thinking!”
So I started with the ‘checks in the mail’ concept. There was no reason for me to expect money, which is why August was a good month for me to ‘test’ the idea. I picked up the mail for about a week, envisioning checks. The first day, I received a bit of a blow – a collection agency chasing me down for nearly $2,000 in medical expenses that I know were already resolved. I didn’t let that stop me though. I knew I was in the right in terms of that bill, so it didn’t deter my thinking or my focus. I continued to trust in receiving checks in the mail, and one day I received a check for $124 from the car dealership where I had bought my newest vehicle about 2 months back. I have no idea what I was being refunded for, but hey, I’ll take it!
I grew up in a very negative household, which was very stifling in terms of positive thinking and exceeding the impossible. I look back now and realize that I had it in me all along, I’m just now beginning to realize how vast it is!
My new focuses? We have a vacation weekend booked in San Diego in a few weeks, and we are looking at traveling to Hawaii in June to get married. I am also setting all my positive thinking on a drawing that takes place on October 9th – and will be posting my ‘million dollar win’ story on here once I get that phone call! I cannot wait to share with you how I paid off my town home, all of our student loans, my car, purchased a new car for my fiancee, and had money left over to redecorate our home and have a rocking vacation in Honolulu with both sides of our families as we begin our married life together!
