When you are ready it works

Charlotte, NC47 year old female who is finally enjoying life
I have been working in the IT field for about 13 years now, plugging along, working over and beyond hours required. I have been rewarded with promotions over the years, but never really felt valued. So here is where the story begins. A little over a year ago I watched The Secret and began dabbling in the power of The Secret. I had a visualization board, still have a gratitude journal, and I try visualizing where I want to be as often as I can.
When I first got my visualization board, I wrote on it Technical Analyst II – that was the position I thought I wanted. But it was just based on money, not where my heart was. I interviewed for that job, but it was not a fit. After I did not get that job, I then set my focus on IT Manager, kept plugging along, and an IT Manager position came open. Here is my chance, I submitted my resume and guess what, my manager comes to me and told me I would not get an interview because I was not qualified at this time. This statement took me back, I started questioning myself, my abilities, why am I at this job. I was currently enrolled in college, on my way to graduating with honors in 3 months, had some leadership positions behind me, what else did they want?
Now here is the good part… I was on the administration floor one day and a Sr. IT Manager pulled me aside to tell me another IT Manager position would soon be coming available, in an area I am familiar with. Wow, I did not hesitate, I saw myself in that job and began preparing myself to take that position. Well, I got the interview, this was one of the most comfortable interviews I have ever experienced. The Saturday before my interview, I received my degree, Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. The day of my interview it seemed like everyone who spoke to me was there for me. I received knowledge that reinforced my conviction for this job. Everything was in alignment, I interviewed for the job at 3 pm and by 5:40, I was told I have the job. I am an IT Manager, which is exactly where I want to be for this moment.
The Secret works. It works when the student is ready, and when desperation is not part of the equation.
