I’m a divorced mother of 4 amazing children ranging from 11-22 years old. I’m an Registered Nurse working full time in the Home Health industry. I have worked full time in nursing for the last 20 years. During the last 2 decades, I’ve worked many different areas of nursing trying to find a way to be with my children as much as possible, especially after my divorce. I love nursing, and my life has been enriched so much by my patients.

About 3 years ago something strange happened. It began as a strong “nudging” in my gut to start my own business. That “nudging” quickly grew to what my family called an obsession. I began to pray and asked for guidance regarding the type of business I would build. The idea of being my own boss, deciding my own income, taking vacation when I wanted to instead of when it was convenient for my boss, staying home with my sick child without having to take a vacation day or being told how inconvenient it was for them to find coverage. One Sunday, my pastor was preaching on the blessings available to us if we just believed. He said that if we wanted something, had faith and could visualize it in our mind….then we had the title deed to it! All we had to do was receive and give thanks. I felt this power that I could speak anything into existence…I was pumped!!! I rushed home to share my ideas and excitement with my family.They looked at me with blank stares that seemed to say “she’s really lost it this time”.
Almost everyone said things like …”that sounds nice, but in the real world”, ” oh you’re such a dreamer, get your head out of the clouds”, or ” what are you thinking? You have 1 child in college and 3 more to go…”. I started to believe them, but I still had a vision of a better life for myself and my children.

Months later a friend of mine started selling cosmetics and asked me to hold a “party” for her. The founder of the company was Mary Kay Ash and her mission was to enrich the lives of women and give them the opportunity to live their lives with the priorities that most women hold dear….Faith first, Family second and Career third. She always said if you believe it and can see it , you will achieve it. Eureka!!! This was the business for me. I could work it as much or as little as I wanted. I’ve continued to work full time in nursing and have built a nice business as a Independent Sales Director with Mary Kay. I’ve even earned the use of a company car. It’s been an internal battle of mine to decide whether or not I should quit my secure full time nursing JOB(Just Over Broke) to take my business to the next level and achieve all the goals I’ve set. My mind replays all those remarks made by people that really do love me and want the best for me and my children. My heart says “go for it , you can do it” but my head says “but, what if…..”.

About a week ago, one of my friends gave me “The Secret” cd set. I listed to them for days in my car while driving from one patient’s house to another. My belief was reborn, and I could feel the positive vibes coming off of me. Within 3 days, old customers began calling in orders, people approached me at gas stations asking for brochures and info on the Mary Kay opportunity, I received a phone call from a lady who said she had gotten my phone number about 3 months ago from a friend, but for whatever reason, didn’t call until now, and I saw a patient that is usually seen by another nurse. His family member saw my car and instantly called her daughter who had just lost her job and wanted to get into cosmetic sales, and so on and so on. Within 5 days I had 7 new unit members. This is more than I’ve added YTD!

Thanks to “The Secret”, my belief in my ability, and the ability of the ladies in my unit, is at an all time high. I am no longer bothered by other’s negativity. I feel confident and am faithfully following my gut instinct. I feel a boldness and an urgency to share this with as many people as possible. I live in an area of Louisiana that was affected by Hurricane Katrina, and to see the hope and new found ability to dream again on the faces of the ladies I work with is priceless.

Thanks so much for validating what my spirit revealed to me years ago. Oh yeah, I turned in my two week notice at work to turn my dreams into reality. Can’t wait to send you updates!!!
