Three Simple Things

Sudbury, MassachusettsI am 57 years old, married to a wonderful woman and have two beautiful children, a boy 16 and a girl 14. I left my job seven years ago to be a stay-at-home dad. My life is abundantly full and my eyes open wider every day.
While viewing The Secret two episodes jumped out at me. One was when Bill Harris was describing his student Robert. There was an image of “Robert” with a headset on listening to a CD. It was part of his effort to retrain his mind and change his thinking. It was a strong image for me, and I knew that it was one of the techniques I wanted to use. I remember thinking, “I want to get a similar device to use in that way.” A few weeks later while visiting a dear friend, she offered me an iPod. She had recently purchased an Apple computer for her daughter, and a free iPod came with the purchase. Neither she nor her daughter wanted it, so she gave it to me. I gratefully accepted it and listen to it daily. It has changed my life.
The second was when Lee Brower was telling the story of the “gratitude rock”. Again, this was a strong image for me and I thought to myself, “I want to have a small stone to carry with me as a reminder of all that I am grateful for.” What is important to know here is that I never said it out loud, nor did I tell anyone of my desire. Shortly after that my daughter came into my office and said, “Here’s your rock, Daddy”, with all the clarity as if she had read my mind. It is a beautiful stone and I couldn’t have picked a more perfect one.
And last, in a nearby town there was a family in great need. Many people in the community were donating money to help them through a difficult time. I decided that I wanted to give them one hundred dollars. I don’t work and have no income other than what my wife earns. Now, I could have told her of my intention and we could have made a donation, but I wanted the money to come from a different source. Or put another way, I wanted to manifest it. So, I took a little money that I did have and bought a lottery ticket, and yes, I won one hundred dollars. I gratefully donated it to the family.
The meaning in what I’m writing about is that abundance comes in many forms, and it doesn’t have to be in the form of millions of dollars to have life-changing consequences.
