The Maple Leaf.

I am a 23 year old student pursuing a degree in Global and Development studies in the University of Alberta, Canada and I am a proud Singaporean.
In the Fall of 2010, I traveled over 8,000 miles to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada to visit some relatives for a month. It was love at first sight as I fell in love with this country. I grew up in a city which is a vertical concrete jungle and mountains were certainly non-existent. As a result, I was mesmerized by the works of mother nature.
One afternoon, my aunt sat me down and asked me to watch a movie which was titled: The Secret. It began then, when I learned to ask, believe and watched my dreams manifest, one by one. It was also then that I decided that I was going to come to Canada to attain a degree. I got my cousin to drive me to the University of Alberta and got a photo of me taken with it; I told myself that I am going to be back here 4 years later and left Canada, inspired.
I adorned my room with my goals and visualization boards, including the Canada flag. Every morning when I woke up, I thanked the Universe for allowing me to live my dreams and did so every moment. I could see that the Universe was responding as everywhere I went, I saw a Canadian flag, heard someone speak of it or mention about it. I continued to believe.
In 2013, I had visited the National Library in Singapore which has 6 levels of books from around the globe. After much browsing, my eyes landed on The Awakening Course by Joe Vitale. I read the summary and opened to a random page as I have heard that what you read or see could be in relation to that moment. I was left bewildered.
I was not able to fathom what I had just seen before my eyes : A maple leaf; so green that it looked like it had just been plucked off the tree. There is not a single maple tree in Singapore and then I knew that it was the work of the Universe. I gave a huge thank you and borrowed the book, with the leaf of course.
In May 2014, I received an email from The University of Alberta and guess what?
I got accepted into the program!
I was over the moon. After which, I began applying for a study permit in order to be able to legally study in Canada. It took them 3 months to get back to me. My visa had been rejected. I was devastated. There was only a month left for school to begin. However, I was not discouraged. I reapplied and my visa was finally approved in a week!
Currently, I am at the University of Alberta in Canada, living my dreams and I am graduating in Spring 2017! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Remember: “What you think about and thank about, you bring about.”
May the joy be with you,
