After recently ordering The Secret book and DVD through my book club and after watching the DVD and half way through the book (I read it in short spurts so I can take it all in), I came to the sudden realisation that throughout my life I have been using The Secret with out realising what I was doing.

There is the time I walked towards the ATM machine and I said to my self, wouldn’t it be nice if the ATM spat out an extra $50. It was just a passing thought and surprise surprise it did just that. I didn’t realise at the time what I had done.

A few years ago I was working for myself as a mobile dog groomer and I had a pretty good reputation, I was always booked out up to 3 weeks ahead at normal times and up to 6 weeks ahead leading up to Christmas. I was working with an elderly retriever who was owned by an elderly lady – the dog was timid, and as I gently tried to turn him on the grooming table my back cracked and I was unable to move for a few moments without severe pain. I couldn’t put my left foot to the ground. To cut a long story short I had three bulging discs in my lower back pressing on my spinal cord. I was unable to work for approximately 5 months, which meant no income, lots of debt, and my insurance company refused to pay me. I was in deep water, but I kept telling myself something would come up.

I returned to work trying to reclaim as many of my previous clients as possible, business was a bit slow and just as it started to pick up along came I job offer I couldn’t refuse – paying more than I was in my own business without the overheads of phones, insurances etc, etc.

Last Tuesday evening I went to a large electrical store that was having a big sale, to buy a new fridge. I found the fridge I wanted but it didn’t have the bottle rack inside like all the similar fridges (but were too large to fit in my kitchen. I asked the salesman if there was any possibility he could throw one in. He said no but I could purchase one as a spare part, so I left it at that and decided to look into that later, but I wanted that bottle rack.

My new fridge arrived on Thursday morning and was installed by the delivery guys. After they left I opened my new fridge only to find the bottle rack I wanted sitting inside.

So today and every day I will walk to my letter box expecting to find cheques. I have also set my younger sister, mother and 2 of my closest friends on the path of The Secret – it is something I want to share with all who I care about. I also had a call the other day from my dogs’ agent of yet another TV job. I am expecting a long term highly paid contract for her next.
