I had been depressed for 4 years. It began in 8th grade and continued all through my Junior year of high school. I had been suffering for a long time, but during my Sophomore summer I found a book titled The Secret in my local library. I was volunteering there and they gave me the book for free. I went home and read it in about a week. I was so utterly excited to hear that I could have anything in the world that I wanted.

At that point in my life, I wanted a girlfriend more than anything. I wanted love and romance, so I would visualize every single day about meeting this dream girl. I listed everything I wanted her to be like and even printed out a picture of what I wanted her to look like. For a year I was working on this manifestation and I never lost faith, but I did start to wonder if I was doing something wrong. So I constantly would read stories and a lot of the stories on this website, and ironically most of the stories would say that the person did exactly what I did, but their soul mate didn’t look like the picture. This is an important point, so I’ll come back to it later.

I would spend my days looking for this girlfriend, visualizing what I’d do once I had her for a whole year. Then I found a website online that is sadly no longer running. But the theme said, that making a desire come true with The Secret is like ordering from a restaurant. When the waiter/waitress comes over and takes your order, you ask for what you want. They walk away and you wait patiently, enjoying your time with friends or occupy yourself. You don’t sit there and constantly say “I want a hamburger, I want a hamburger” multiple times and then look at the table seeing no hamburger, so follow up with visualizing it. You let it go and trust the waitress/waiter to bring you your hamburger. That is exactly what you need to do for the law of attraction.

It is truly simple. You ask for it, really believe it will happen, like you know it will happen. Let it go and carry on with your life trusting the Universe. Don’t look for it or think about it constantly. You must trust the Universe. I realized this, and two weeks before May 21st I wrote down on a piece of paper that I wanted to meet my girlfriend.

Well, May 20th came around and she appeared to me during prom because we were dancing and being flirty together. So the entire weekend I was asking myself “Is this her?” Well I told her Monday how she made me feel during prom, and the following Tuesday she asked me out to start dating. I of course like to take it slow so after about 3 days we did start dating.

This was a girl I knew of in school, spoke to occasionally but never thought anything would happen. Here’s where the kicker got me. She didn’t look like the girl in the picture, but from the original list I made of the girl having black hair, a sexy name, full blood European (born and bred in Greece and can speak it) and every personality trait I could want, it’s amazing. Also I never really wanted to have to be friends with her for a year or so before dating. I want the girl to pop us, and for us to immediately date and we did! Our anniversary is May 27th, 2011. We celebrated our one year anniversary and she is legitimately everything I could ever want.

And here’s another thing to really rattle your brain, we’ve known each other since I was in kindergarten. She’s two years older and came to the U.S. when she was 8 and was placed immediately in my school. I always wanted to know my true love my whole life, and I’ve known her my entire life. She’s been right in front of me. I couldn’t be happier, imagine that? And let me tell you, prom was May 20th, so when I was looking around that night and thought “Where is my girlfriend?” I remembered to relax and just gave it all to the Universe to handle. Then the Universe said “Here you go.” It is so amazing how everything worked out.

I’ve attained even the smallest details I wanted in my dream relationship and I’m only 18 years old! I got accepted to my dream college and my current goal is to attract millions of dollars. I admit I get nervous, but after attracting this girl exactly how I’ve always wanted and with the most amazing romantic story ever, I am convinced I could bring a unicorn into the world if I wanted. That might be a little hard however..haha well anyway to all those looking for true love and a real love story. Nicholas Sparks couldn’t write a love story that is as amazing as mine. Also, I’m going with her to the Bahama’s this summer. I’m so excited for my life, and discovering The Secret this early in life makes everything feel like a dream. By the way, my depression ended my Junior year of high school and I am so happy every single day. I feel like a strong person again and my smiles are real.
