My wife, Cat and I have chosen a different path than most couples. We have been married for 19 years and have worked together for most of them. This can create some challenges when the stresses of work and home become difficult to separate. Three years ago, we became passionate about Hyperbaric Therapy and started several Wellness Clinics to help people live better and more fulfilling lives. As any small business owners know, you need to be passionate about your business because it often consumes your life.

In July of 2014, I was driving to work. Cat and I had been experiencing several months that were particularly stressful with work, home and extended family. This had led to a deterioration in our ability to connect and positively move our world forward as a couple.

I began to ask for a way for us to reconnect. It occurred to me that Cat and I had not been a vacation alone together since our honeymoon in 1996. 18 years of hard work and building a life together had been great but we needed a vacation. So I decided to attract one using the LOA.

I was very specific. It needed to be somewhere hot with beaches, diving, and fun. It needed to be far enough away from our regular world that we had to disconnect and focus on each other. At the same time, our home and business needed to be safe and sound or we would not be able to relax. I asked that our kids would be watched over and safe. Then I asked that when we returned, our business would be better than when we left it. Oh yeah, and we didn’t have a lot of money, so I needed the vacation to be cheap or free. I know, a lot to ask for, but I love my wife and my marriage more than I can tell you.

I arrived at work just as I finished my “Asking”. I received a text and opened my phone. At that moment, the radio station announced that they were giving away an all expense paid vacation to the Caribbean. I just had to text “win” to the station. So I did.

Now, I must say that it occurred to me that these contests are a long shot. But in a way, that thought helped me, because I determined that I would just believe and then let it go. I believed that I had won and thanked the Universe so much for the immediate response to my request. Then I forgot about it.

Four weeks later, I received a call. It was the promotional company asking me where I wanted to go for my free Caribbean vacation! They sent us to an all-inclusive club in Jamaica and paid for everything. But I want to point out some amazing things.

I asked for a disconnect and we were unable to get internet or cell service due to storms and location.

I asked for safe kids and my mother was able to come out and stay with them, which is a rarity.

I asked for the business to be better when we returned and our staff made record sales the whole time we were gone. Hmmm, maybe I should have asked for that to be a permanent situation?!!

I just wanted to share this to reaffirm and inspire all those that get lost in the weeds and forget the process of manifesting the good things that they desire. I still get distracted but this lesson serves as a LOA guidepost for me to get back on track.
