Lessons in Gratitude

Salem, WIFinally getting the true nature of gratitude.
In reading The Secret and then The Power, as well as many other books on metaphysics and self-help through the years, I have come across the power of gratitude as a tool many times, but some part of me still just didn’t seem to get it. When Rhonda talked about crying tears of gratitude, I knew I was missing something. I say thank you all the time and have done so all of my life. That was the problem; gratitude had gone on autopilot and the feeling behind it was lost. Sometimes the thing we need to ask for before we ask for things is the lesson we need to get to manifest our dreams – for me it was gratitude.
When the student is ready, the teacher will appear. I work with emotionally disturbed children and their families, and the mom of one of my newest cases has taught me quite a bit about gratitude. Her family is impoverished by our standards, but every time I see her she tells me how grateful she is for my help, and then she tells how grateful she is for all sorts of people and circumstances that happen to her – and she is so genuine about it. Interestingly enough, she gets all sorts of stuff free all the time to help out her family, and not necessarily by seeking it through churches and other charitable establishments. I know of course that it’s the LOA in action paying her back for her gratitude. And now I can honestly say and FEEL that I am truly grateful for what she has shown me about true gratitude!
