About ten years ago I attended a company holiday party with my friend Deb. The company had supplied a door prize for every employee. Somebody had gone to a superstore and purchased all kinds of oddities. The big prize was a 13 inch black & white television. As I looked over the booty that was potentially mine I could not identify one thing that I would want. There were 300 employees present so it took much of the night for the president of our company to draw names from a hat to go with each prize. Near the end of the night my name had still not been called. From under the table they pulled a prize that I had not seen earlier. A Thermos brand lunch box with a Thermos attached to the top. As they lifted the prize for all to see I whispered under my breath, “I want that!” The words were barely out of my mouth when they pulled the name from the hat and it was my name! I joyously ran to the front of the banquet hall and triumphantly held the prize over my head like the Stanley Cup while shouting, “YES! YES! YES!” There was a great deal of applause in the hall as it was evident that I was very pleased with this gift. When I made my way back to the table Deb said to me, “I heard you say that was what you wanted. You know, you always get exactly what you ask for, I have seen it many times in your life.” And she was right. All of my life when I asked for something, it came to me. I know The Secret works for me and always has. Even if I get down, which is rare, I can always say to myself (and believe it) that things are going to turn out alright because they always do.
