I Want A Rabbit
Submitted by: MAD
South AfricaI am an almost 40ish woman who is a mother of three lovely children aged 16, 12 and 6. Despite having experienced tragedy, I believe that life gives you good things. God is always good.
I have known about The Secret since 2009. I have watched the movie and have a copy of the book. I believe in miracles and believe that life is a miracle despite my husband committing suicide. My story is of my 6 year old daughter who has shown me that no matter what, there is always hope.
I have recently started my own company and am currently working from home. Two weeks ago my 6 year old daughter become ill with the flu virus and had to be away from school for three days. On the last day of her recuperation myself and a colleague were sitting at the table discussing work-related issues and my daughter was coloring in a picture.
Suddenly she looked at us and said “I want a rabbit”. I told her then that she could not get one since rabbits do not make good pets. With this she said nothing more and continued to color in her picture.
The next day I whisked all the kids, including her, to school. Myself and my colleague had an early morning meeting and she accompanied me home to prepare for the meeting. Upon getting home she sat down at the table. I then hurriedly began opening the curtains and she shouted Look, there is N’s rabbit”!
To our surprise there sat a baby black and white rabbit outside my window looking in at us. We ran outside knowing full well how difficult it is to catch a rabbit. When we got outside the rabbit just hopped itself up to us and I picked it up. Please know that in the area where I live rabbits arriving at your door is a very, very, very (if not impossible) rare occurrence.
My 6 year old returned later that day from school and was delighted with her rabbit, though I must tell you not surprised. I explained to her that it was probably someone else’s rabbit that had hopped away and that this person may come and look for it. The rabbit is still with us since nobody came to claim it. She calls the rabbit Clover.
My 16 year old says that she asked without expectation, just a knowing that she will receive. My 6 year old daughter has taught us all the power of faith. This has brought great hope to all of us.
To the universe I say thank you, thank you, thank you. To God I say thank you, thank you, thank you!
