I first came upon The Secret book about a year ago browsing in the self help section of the library. I was actually looking for another book when I came upon The Secret. It looked interesting so I brought it home. After I read the book, I saw The Secret movie 5 times in seven days. That’s how much I wanted to absorb all of this amazing information that seemingly fell into my lap by accident.

Last September, I first saw this ad on Craig’s List looking for content writers for a news agency. It seemed like the perfect job: great pay, benefits, within walking distance of my apartment. I sent in my resume and got a request for an interview. However, I lost confidence in myself and my abilities and canceled it. I saw the ad again and sent in my resume once more. This time, no one contacted me.

The second time I applied, I sincerely thought that I was following the tenets of The Secret to the letter, but I really wasn’t. I told myself that I “believed” I was going to get called in for an interview, but inside of me was a nasty undercurrent of fear, doubt and worry. It’s no wonder they didn’t call me back!

Well, the third time was a charm. I applied to the news agency four months after the last attempt. I got called in for an interview which went very well. I took their writing test and then settled in for the wait. This time, I wasn’t leaving this to chance. I worked really, really hard with my subconscious so that I knew like I knew like I knew that position was mine. I wrote out a job offer letter. I went out and got clothes for my new job. I started waking up earlier as if I was going to work. Most importantly, I felt excited every time I thought about my brand new job!

After about two and a half, three weeks of waiting, I got offered the position. Not that I was surprised. When you use the tenets of The Secret correctly, the Universe is yours for the taking. I learned that only too well. Now nothing will stop me from living the life of my dreams!!!
