I was a bit reluctant to share my story, mostly because of the negative feedback The Secret can receive from some people, but then I felt very strongly that there is someone (maybe a few) who need this. And I am not ashamed to share my story of The Secret. It is a way of living, of focusing your energy on what you want.

I had always wanted to attend a “Top University.” I grew up in a community that didn’t necessarily support that dream, and I was told it would probably never happen. Then I, like so many other people, discovered The Secret. And it has absolutely changed my life.

I began seriously looking at colleges in my senior year in high school. I had one particular school in mind that I really, really wanted to go to, however, I didn’t think it was possible.

I would make lists of schools I was thinking about applying to, and “Stanford” would be written and crossed out multiple times. Then I decided I wanted to go there more badly than I have ever wanted anything in my entire life. I would get on the treadmill and think, “I go to Stanford”, to the beat of my shoes hitting the treadmill.

I was admitted into Stanford in April of 2009. It has been such a blessing and great experience. I have also had the opportunity to travel, pray for friends and do so much more with The Secret. I think the number 1 most important thing to do is to be willing to step outside your comfort zone and “listen to your gut.” When you feel yourself getting discouraged know you are not alone, and that you can do this.
