Conquered Tests and Restored Faith

So, I’m a senior right now in high school. And that means I had to face the proverbial doom of the SAT along with everyone else.
Haha.
I had taken it 3 times in the course of 2009 and had repeatedly received scores of 1240, 1260 and 1240 again. That may seem like amazing scores for the average student but being a perfectionist with goals reaching toward the sky, I wanted more: a 1350. So I could enter my university’s Honors College, receive the highest possible scholarship (the Presidential Scholars Award for $16,000 over the course of 4 years), the Honors Scholarship, and a chance to begin research with USF as an undergraduate.
All that depended on that score of a 1350.
And guess what came into my life after receiving my 3rd SAT score? The Secret of course! I was sitting in class and my friends were talking about the book. I had heard about it but didn’t really know what it was about so my friend loaned me it and really I think it blew me away.
Through use of all the techniques and tips in the book I visualized and believed my way to a 1350 on my 4th SATs! Whenever my faith wavers, I think back to that time when I finally received the score I wanted and I conjure up that exhilaration I felt to use on my wishes now.
It’s nice to find out that we actually have control over our lives. It’s also nice to realize once again that there is a God. What I’m most thankful to the Secret for is showing me the way religion works, an ultimate truth if you will. The same truth yogis realize through meditation and that Christ believed in. I’m glad to know the true meaning of prayer. And I’m thankful that that little bit of an atheist in me has been eradicated.
