My childhood was a living hell. No happy days were there to remember at all.

I was raped as a child many times by a couple of people. It started when I was 7 years old. My home environment was not good, either. Everyday my parents use to fight and my sister and I were very scared to stay at home at night. I was a very bright student in the primary school, grade 1 to 5 in Sri Lankan education system. But it faded little by little and I ended up being the last of the class.

I hated myself at this point and I wished I could die. I had nightmares of me getting raped over and over. And the worst part is my parents knew about these things but did not take any action.

When I was 17 years old I tried to commit suicide. And again 3 more times later. The 3rd time I almost died. Now I’m glad that it didn’t work.

I hated my parents and my sister but mostly my father. I didn’t go out of my house. I bunked classes and school. I didn’t want to study and all I wanted was to die. I didn’t smile, didn’t go to parties and I cut ties with my relatives. I had no friends as well.

When I was 19 I knew something was wrong with me, so I asked my mom to take me to a psychiatrist. I was severely depressed. I have been on medications and had counseling ever since.

1 year later, my cousin who was in New Zealand, told me about The Secret book.

I got positive results while I was reading the book.

Now my life is filled with joy and is full of hope. I love myself and I love my family to death.

I did the subjects that I didn’t want to for my A levels after I had been at home for 4 years doing nothing but sleeping and watching movies. I wanted to do science since I was a little girl. I gave up all the negative thoughts of studying. Now I’m living in my dream. I’m getting my biomedical science degree hoping to become a scientist.

I’m in the best university and I have the best lecturers around me. I have the craziest and the best friends I could ever find with me right now.

All this happened thanks to The Secret. I’m really grateful for Rhonda and The Secret team for making our lives happy.
