My Dream Home Manifested
Submitted by: EB
UKI'm a 33 year old, with a wonderful home and a wonderful boyfriend, loving life and looking forward to an awesome future. I know the power is within me to create all of my dreams. :)
My boyfriend and I wanted to buy a home together. At the time (about 3 years ago) the property boom was still going strong, and house prices were going up faster than we could save. Then the recession started, but buying a house still cost way more than we could consider. We decided to wait 6 months, hoping for the prices to dip further and meanwhile continuing to save every penny we earned for a deposit.
During this time I drove past a house on a street I don’t usually go down on my way home from work. It had a for sale sign outside and I had a good feeling about it straight away – it looked gorgeous and the location was ideal for both our work places and near to both our families too.
As soon as I got home I looked up the property on the internet and saw the photos for the inside of the house. It was everything I wanted on my “wish list” for a home – location, size, garden, drive. The only thing was the price; it was quite a bit more than we could afford. Well, we were still planning on waiting 6 months, so we continued to save. Meanwhile I looked at the photos online every few days and sometimes detoured on my way home so I could drive past it. I would dream about that house being mine, and my boyfriend and I living in there.
The 6 Months passed and we decided the time was right to start looking for a home. We went to see a mortgage advisor who told us the maximum we could borrow. My heart sank a little when I realized the limit of our money, even after all the years of saving we had done.
We started viewing houses, and house after house none of them ticked even half the boxes of the things we wished for. I looked on the internet again and surprisingly my dream house was still for sale.
We had a second appointment with our mortgage advisor, and he asked how it was going. I said we had seen nothing we liked. Then I told him about the house I loved. He looked it up on the website, and he said he knew the agents well and would phone on my behalf to see what the lowest price offer may be.
He phoned me the next day to report bad news: “The lowest price is 20k more than you can afford, I wouldn’t think about it anymore if I were you.” I was upset, but I wasn’t going to give in. I continued to visualize living there, looking at the photos and imagining walking around the rooms.
About a week later I decided to go straight to the agent. I thought, “I know this house has been on the market so long because it’s waiting for me to buy it.” I told the agent I wanted to view it. They said it wasn’t a good idea as it was out of our price range, but I really pushed and insisted I must see this house!
A viewing was arranged for us for a couple days later. I was so excited. After all this time, I would be seeing my house for real. The viewing was great – we both loved the house, but still it was too much money. We decided to put in or best offer, as we had nothing to lose.
The vendor made us wait two (very long) days before telling us our offer was rejected. I was upset, but again I thought, “I won’t give up on this, I am going to get this house.” I went back to the agents and said how much more would they want over what we can afford? The reply came that they would be willing to sell the house to us if we could pay 5k more! This was quite a lot lower that the original asking price, but still we didn’t have enough. I spoke to my mum about it and she said she could give us 3k. I phoned the agents in excitement and said I have another 3k, will they agree to this price? An hour later I got the phone call I have been waiting for for 6 months. WE GOT THE HOUSE!
We are now very happily living in our wonderful home. It is everything we wanted and I give thanks every day. 🙂
I wanted to share this story with everyone, as the other stories on here have kept me inspired in my darkest hours. When there seems like there is no hope of for filling your dreams and everyone around you says you can’t do it, the most important voice to listen to is YOU and your instinct. Never never give up hope, keep believing in your dream and it will come to pass, and remember to give thanks for all the things you already have and will have.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
Ask – Believe – Receive… it works. xx
