A Wish… A Dream…A Reality

CanadaA young teen, completely fascinated with how the Universe works.
I was introduced to The Secret when I was about 11, maybe 12. My mom bought the movie, thinking it was a fictional film but was mistaken.
After she watched it she found me downstairs and told me to watch it with her. “Oh great” I thought “A documentary film? There is so much I’d rather do than watch that!” But I sat and watched it. It took 5 minutes, not even and I was hooked! My eyes were glued to the screen, I tried to absorb everything that movie had to say and more.
A few months later, The Secret became dirt under the rug. I forgot about it…but then my mom purchased the book. She took her time reading it and when she was done I found it laying there – untouched. Impulse took over and I reached for it. I found myself spending countless hours in my room, nose in that book. I stayed up later than I was allowed just to read the next part of it.
During those past years, my sister and I have wanted horses and my parents have been wanting to move to the countryside. We looked at farms but none seemed just right… This September (a few months ago) I sat on the couch listening to my sister and my mom’s conversation. “Mom, why haven’t we moved yet? What will it take to move?” My sister asked.
My mom smiled and started to name a bunch of things. “Well honey, we need the old house in B.C to sell, and my business to sell etc.”
Sooner than expected, things started to fall into place. My mom’s small business sold, then the house in B.C sold, while Dad continued looking for farms. A day before Thanksgiving (Canada) we went and visited a farm for sale, not planning to buy it.
It was a little farm, a big barn, a nice pasture (that once held 23 horses) and a very nice house. Our parents spent over three hours talking to the owners about the property and talking about deals.
Later that night we all piled into the truck – awe struck. We were going to live in that hobby farm, probably by December 1st that’s what my mom said.
The very next day the owners of the farm called. “I don’t want to seem pushy,” the lady said, “but it would work out way better for us if you moved in by mid November.”
A day after that call, my parents signed the papers. We are moving in November 15th and we also got a few animals in the deal too. Now we have 2 new dogs (Skye and Ossie), 2 new cats (un-named), and we get to babysit 2 mares (Kio and Cocoa) until the sellers find a place for them, which will make great practice for us till we get our own horses.
Just yesterday, my mom said something to me that plays like a broken record in my head, “Isn’t it weird? The sellers found many people interested in the property and they could have sold it months ago…but instead they turned down the other offers and went with us. It’s almost like its meant to be.”
