I didn’t realize until after I watched The Secret that I had put the Law of Attraction into motion when I bought my first home.

In 2001 I separated from my partner of 10 years and found myself looking for a home for myself. The relationship didn’t leave me with any money, and I had filed bankruptcy 2 years prior. With very little money, my friend/realtor showed me many houses, but none resonated with me, or they were out of my price range. Finally, she showed me a home that just came on the market. A little log cabin in the woods, totally redone inside and out, and I fell in love with it before I even went inside. My heart started pounding and I knew this was my home! In fact, I told her, “I’ll take it!”, just from looking at the outside. It was being sold by a wonderful guy who was relocating to Florida. He worked for Sears and had completely redone the inside and outside… nothing to do but move in. He even finished paneling so I wouldn’t have to do it.

We submitted a contract and settled on a price. Then came time to find a mortgage company that would approve me with a bankruptcy on my record. Not for a moment did I wonder whether or not I would get the home – I knew it was mine. I felt it in my heart. I even proceeded to open a bank account in that town the next day, and I even ordered address labels for my new home! I started writing my name with my new address over and over again. I started shopping for the perfect futon for the living room too.

Three weeks went by and no-one would approve me for a loan. But I knew that the house would be mine, somehow I just knew that it was waiting for me. At that point, no-one else made an offer on the home. My loan officer said he could try FHA as a last ditch effort, and it worked. However they would only approve me for the purchase price of the house, which meant I couldn’t roll the closing costs into the loan. A big problem, as I had no money to speak of and used what was left in my bank account to pay for the inspections. I asked how much the closing costs were, and he said about $7,000! I felt a little downtrodden, but kept my spirits up.

At the time, I was unsuccessfully dabbling in commodities, and about 6 weeks prior had bought a cheap gold option that was going nowhere. In fact, being that the market was flat, it looked like it was going to expire worthless. My mind was too engrossed in scrimping and saving every penny I could, as the closing date was set and I had to come up with the closing costs.

Less than 2 weeks before the closing, my realtor called me to ask if I had my ducks in a row, and I told her I was still working on the closing costs, which caused her some concern as the closing was coming up fast. I had only managed to save about $1,200, and started thinking of who I could borrow money from for the closing costs.

That week I received a call from my broker, who told me that gold went limit up 4 days in a row, and told me I should liquidate it as it was about to expire. That day I liquidated the option for $7,200!

I had my closing costs and closed on my new home!

I am so very grateful for The Secret, as it taught me something I already knew but wasn’t aware of. Now that I am aware of this wonderful secret, I want to share it with as many people as possible. Rhonda is a gift from the Universe to us all.

The Universe worked for me and I now look forward to applying the Law of Attraction to every area of my life. I hope to SOON have enough money to help others fulfill their dreams too. That blank check is gonna come in mighty handy!
