Overcoming My Car Problems.
Submitted by: Patty Z
Cudahy, WII can be found enjoying life to the fullest.
I had to go to work on a cold New Year’s Eve and while driving there my car started overheating. I noticed some coolant was leaking as well. I pulled over and let it cool off and I wasn’t sure if I was going to make it to work. I tried to think positive thoughts, but worry kept creeping in. My co-workers were really helpful. My boss even went and got me some coolant on her lunch break. I remained hopeful. I managed to get my car into the shop and get it fixed without any engine damage but soon I again had the same problem. I took it back to the shop and the mechanic said I would need to have the water pump replaced and it would be there for at least a week.
This created a dilemma for me. How would I get to work? I took the bus, which required me to leave a lot earlier to get there and it was a long walk to the bus stop during the winter. I also took Ubers, which were expensive. I even got rides from co-workers who went out of their way to give me a ride. What I really needed was a car.
I decided to be grateful for all the help that I had received from others and to think positively. I pictured myself driving a borrowed car to work, and then I let it go.
Out of the blue, I got a message saying “Message me” from someone I knew only from Facebook but not in real life. Her boyfriend had just died a week earlier and she did not drive. She was happy to have me take his car, as she needed to move it for her landlord to have the lot plowed. She said “Your timing couldn’t have been better.” I nearly cried tears of gratitude, it helped so much. Then I got a second, and then a third offer from someone to lend me their spare car! Good to know I have options for the future. Life is good!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
