I’ve been trying for months to trade an older car for a new car. I was still making payments on it, the mileage was high and the car was in fair condition, and my credit is in fair condition. All the dealers I’ve tried to trade with would not accept the old car. Then I was watching a Spanish talk show, “Christina”, which is the equivalent of “Oprah” in the Latino world. And they were talking about “The Secret”. What drew me to it right away was that the people living “The Secret” seemed to be very happy. I told myself if I get anything out of it, it is to be a happier person (I was really bummed with the car situation, and I also had taken an $8,000.00 pay cut when I moved from Philadelphia to Florida 2 years ago). Coincidentally, I had already told my daughter I would take her to Barnes and Nobles the next day to buy her a book she’s been wanting.

At the book store I noticed there were only two “The Secret” books left. I read it in one day. As I was reading it, I couldn’t believe what I was reading. I related to the book right away. I’ve always striven to do better in life. I’ve always wondered, “If that person next to me on the road in the Mercedes can do it, why can’t I?” I tried a couple of home-based businesses to no success, and now I know why… because deep down I always thought these kinds of businesses never really work, only a few people make it. My negative thinking is what made my businesses fail. My negative thinking of, ‘they don’t pay much in Florida’, is what led me to take a pay cut. My negative thinking of, ‘this car has to many miles, I’ll never get out of it’, is why I was still stuck in that old car.

Needless to say, after reading The Secret it was like making me see things for the first time, how everything negative in my life is because I made it happen, and everything positive in my life is because I made it happen.

Well, getting back to the car. After reading “The Secret” I made up my mind that I was going to get a newer car. I asked the universe for a new car. I pictured the car an SUV, I smelled the new car smell. I pictured my hands around the steering wheel, mentally I pictured myself surprising my kids with the new car, I pictured their faces when they saw me pull up our driveway in the new car, I pictured driving to my sister’s house and beeping the horn and seeing her face when she saw me in the new car. I pictured my daughter next to me and son in the back seat of my new car. There was no doubt in my mind that I was going to get a new car.

Then I remembered some time back when I was trying to trade the car that my sister had told me about a dealer that sells pre-owned cars, but I never inquired with that dealer because remember I was thinking I’ll never get out of this car. Well I gave that dealer a call and I explained my situation, and they told me to come by and they would see if they can help me. I cleaned out the old car, I took everything out of it, I took my house key off the key ring, because I knew I was getting a new car. Well, I’m happy to say that as I am typing this story I can look over out my window and I can see my brand new 2008 SUV. Somehow, I went in for a pre-used 2006 with 14,000 miles, and the universe worked its magic and I drove out of the dealer with a demo 2008 with 2,100 miles for the same price I was going to pay for the 2006. I don’t even know how that happened.

I read “The Secret” and 1 week later I had a new car. Seeing my kids happy faces when I pulled up the driveway in our new car was priceless. I’ve been telling my sister about “The Secret”, I’m buying the movie today, and next week I’m taking it to her in my brand new car. She doesn’t know I got the new car. I can already picture the look on her face when I pull up her driveway.

Thank you Rhonda Byrne and all the other teachers in “The Secret”. I am forever grateful to you all. Now I know that I’m going to get an increase in salary and I am going to succeed with my home-based business, because now I am living with THE SECRET.
