Amanda the Cat (aka Grandma)

San Pedro, Ca.I love to care for and love and nurture.
On a rainy Easter vacation day, my son and I could not do the things we loved most – going to the beach, bike riding, swimming in our pool…. So I got out the newspaper and said, let’s look for a kitten to adopt. We started looking through the ads until one caught my eye. It was my Grandmother’s old phone number! My Grandma, my best friend, passed away in 1991 – this was 1994. So we called the number. The woman on the other end said she had a 6 month old who had been spayed after having kittens, if we were interested bring a cat carrier and if she approved our application the cost would be $50. We got a cat carrier and drove over to her house. When we went in we saw Amanda. The skinniest little kitty with a shaved tummy. She was a Torti with green eyes. My Grandma had black hair and green eyes. I sat the cat carrier on the coffee table and she jumped in. I guess “Grandma” wanted to go home with us. So we took her home. My son who was 10 at the time even wrote a story for school saying how all it took was food and a lot of love to make Amanda beautiful. It is 14 years later, and Amanda still lives with me.
