Arby’s And A Life Changing Moment

WyomingWriter/editor, screenwriter ... on journey for rediscovery!
I was down to my last $20. I went to WalMart to get an inkjet to finish a project and there was a homeless man on the side street. After my experiences in California with them, I now would normally drive by. I drove onto our main thoroughfare to head home and it nagged me so much, I finally realized how bad I would feel if I didnt do something. I drove to the bank, took out my last $20, drove back, pulled into the Arbys parking lot and had him come to the car. I had absolutely no fear whatsoever. There was a true humility about him he could barely look me in the eyes. He was dirty, limping, a tooth broken out. But in his blue eyes there was an obvious intelligence I immediately trusted. I told him I would buy him food, but not give him cash (my experience in LA was theyd take the money and use it for alcohol when normally asked them if they wanted food, theyd turn it down). He said absolutely! And his blue eyes lit up. So, I drove in, got him a full meal with coffee and even dessert, took it back to him and gave him the $2.00 left over. The look on his face was absolutely priceless. I realized I didnt do it to make me feel good in an ego kind of way. I realized how lucky I was to have my apartment and friends, family, work, etc., and wanted to share it. I also knew that if I didnt help this man Id feel bad the rest of my life. As I pulled out of Arbys and drove by him to drive home, he waved and smiled with his missing tooth, and it felt perfect! A true, synchronized connected moment full of passion for another human being.
I didnt know how I was going to pay for coffee at my meeting with a partner the next day.
Later that afternoon, Mom called and asked if I had looked in my purse. For what? Check the inside pocket. And there yes, my friend was a $20 bill.
This all occurred just days before I listened to The Secret interview with Rhonda Byrne. You tell me that something isnt happening!
