What an amazing day today is! Here is my story:
I was fortunate enough to attend a good University here in South Africa. A good University meant a good and well recognized degree and a very impressive C.V. right? WRONG!
Nobody had told me that it would take me double the time and years to actual get there. I consider myself to be fairly smart, a little above average and a hard worker, but boy did I fail truck loads of subjects. This was no big deal until my peers started graduating and completing their qualifications. I ended up at the bottom of the academic food chain for a good three years. I lost motivation and just didn’t want to carry on studying. It sucked! The more I worked hard, the more I would fail. It just didn’t make sense, UNTIL I changed my THINKING!!!!
The beginning of 2013, I boldly said I AM GRADUATING this year. I didn’t know how or when or what new study strategies I had up my sleeve, all I knew deep down in my heart is that I was going to graduate. Mid-year exams came and went and I didn’t do particularly well in them. Finals came and went and again the very same story, I was just not cracking them “A’s”.
Long story short, I just opened up my email account from varsity and guess what?
The subject line read: CONGRATULATIONS YOU ARE A GRADUATE!
I still can not believe it because according to my results this outcome was highly unlikely. But I kept telling everyone I met including those who were in my classes that “I will see you at the Graduation Ceremony!!!”. I blindly believed. Some days it was an outright lie to myself, but I kept saying it until it was the truth and lo and behold: IT IS!!!
I did it. I believed in something that seemed impossible. I still don’t know how or what happened, but who cares because I AM A GRADUATE!!!
My message is this:
When talking to friends, family, etc., always speak it into life. Whatever it is you want. Speak it into life. I was not supposed to graduate but here I am shopping online for a cute formal dress because I kept telling myself and others that I am Graduating.
God is Good. Good is God.
Thank you to The Secret Team and all the stories I read here that gave me hope.
