First I want to say Thank You, Thank You, Thank You to Rhonda and to everyone that helped make finding The Secret possible.

I will keep my story short.

As a young lady, I grew up thinking my prince charming would be the handsomest and most sophisticated man alive. I always wanted him to look like a model. And be tall and tan, etc, etc.

Well as luck would have it, I crashed into a man that was none of the above. What he lacked in beauty on the outside, he more than made up for beauty on the inside. So my heart fell for him, HARD. He was everything I needed. Everything my soul craved. He is funny, he is smart, he is a hard worker. He is the kindest man I have ever met in my whole life and everyone in his family adores him. He treats his family like gold. And he treats me like gold. And to me, he is the sexiest man alive because of all those things. I have truly been on top of the world since I met him.

We had been dating for 7 months and everything was going beautifully. He even informally asked me to marry him and of course I said I would. One day, out of nowhere, he told me that maybe we should stop seeing each other. He was, of course, very kind when he told me, which made it even worse. Even sharing this story at this moment makes my heart heavy. Only once did I say he was making a terrible mistake. Only once did I try to change his mind because one thing I knew about him is that when he made up his mind about something, he could not be swayed easily. But I could also tell his heart was heavy with his decision.

I read The Secret several years ago and read The Magic last year. I tried to think back to my actions during the time we dated. I always thought I was being grateful for him. I realized that maybe I wasn’t so grateful and also that negative thoughts of losing him had entered my mind on more than one occasion.

I realized the only thing stronger and more powerful than his will to begrudgingly move on would be my will to be grateful for him and for all the experiences we shared together. So I made it my purpose in life at that moment to be more grateful for him than even for the air that I breathed.

I also got really clear about being grateful for EVERYTHING in my life. My family, my job, my car, my apartment, my friends, my health, my family’s health, the plants, the animals, the sun, the moon, the stars, public servants, beauty products that make life easier, rainwater, traffic lights that keep traffic running smoothly,……..EVERYTHING.

I also created a vision board of the life I want with him. The things I want to do with him, the places I want to go with him, the successes I want to share with him. I also made it a habit to read stories on this website every day that would encourage me. One of my favorites was the girl who would send text messages to herself as if they came from her boyfriend. I know that sounds crazy, but I humored myself and did it. Hey, a girl is never too proud to try anything when it comes to LOVE!

And you know what?

It took two weeks for him to come back!

I feel our relationship is stronger than ever. I have made a real effort to not only be grateful, but to really gauge whether I am being a good girlfriend. I have become more aware of things I need to do in a relationship to make it better and to make it last. And there is one other thing. I have started saying Thank you to him more often. When we take trips, I thank him for being a good driver or I thank him for such an enjoyable day.

And I see his face light up when I say thank you.

Relationships are tricky because you are dealing with two people with two different mindsets, but I do believe that truly being grateful for what you have and for who you are with causes you to have so much joy in your relationship and causes your whole life in general to be better. I will always be grateful for this beautiful love in my life and say to anyone, specifically dealing with relationship issues, to look deep inside and really find the gratitude.

One last note. My desire is to be married to my love before the end of the year. I know that will happen because I will continue to use gratitude to fulfill all my heart’s desires.
