I’ve had the book The Secret for just over a year. My stepson bought me the book, and when I first got it I was right into it, and then after about 30 pages for whatever reason it got put aside and kind of forgotten about for about a year – I did keep it with me but I never finished – until 2 weeks ago. I did practice some of what I read but I was really just tapping the surface.

We were on vacation when I finally finished the book 2 weeks ago and I was pumped – I saw a whole new perspective that will help me to lead my life differently – I do believe.. But this is about learning a lesson.

I’ve been practising the law of attraction like a trooper – following all the suggestions I can – trust me it’s not easy, learning to visualize and actually thank the universe for all the good things and experiences in my life.

Yesterday, the news was on in the background and they made mention of the LOTOMAX draw that takes place on Fridays. I seldom pay attention the news or the lotteries but it seemed to me that this must have been some sort of message from the universe – finances have been tight and I’m partners in a business that is doing ok but unable to support me yet so I bought 10 bucks worth of tickets and worked hard on my visualization and gratitude. I was positive that my ticket was a winning ticket – to be honest, I didn’t care if it was 5.00 or 50 million bucks, I just wanted it to be a winner and I spent the day visualizing how this ticket was going to win and how life would exactly has I dreamed – well, it wasn’t a winner… But I was not devastated, I immediately realized that there was a lesson in what happened and I realized I missed something…

I know that the LOA works because I’ve been able to make small things like parking spots and the relationship with my spouse improve – even the folks at StarBucks have been giving us free coffee’s and tea… But here is the lesson I learned – and I’m sure many of you have experienced similar circumstances and gave up – thoughout the book, all the great teachers say the same thing – envision the end result and allow the universe to make things happen for you. Our job is to believe in what we want and not to figure out how to get it… That is exactly what I did wrong – while I spent the day visualizing what I wanted, I also felt in my heart that I had bought the winning ticket – that I was the catalyst and that is what I now realize was missed when I read the book. The universe finds the route to your dream – you don’t find the route…

So although I’m not yet getting that dream home, debt paid off and perfect job, I also not discouraged and continuing to follow the teachings of The Secret – and so should you. There is no guarantee things will happen this hour, this day or this week – but only you have the power to influence your universe – live The Secret!
