MontanaI am a 34 year old mother of one. I've been married 5 years. I'm a bartender by trade and my husband is in construction.
My husband and I were living in a run down town in Wyoming. We had moved there because of the job opportunities. I absolutely hated this place! The elevation was too high and we never adjusted. Each morning we would wake up with headaches and feel run down. The school system was a joke. I didn’t want my son to go to school there! I bar tended at a bar where every night, there was a bar fight. The whole town had a feeling of despair and hopelessness.
I re-read The Secret and decided we were going to move back to Montana. I thought of the perfect town to raise my son. My husband and I were both jobless at the time and had no money. That didn’t stop me. I knew we would live there, on the side of town that I liked, before fall! We had too!
Each day as I was picking up the house I would pass by the windows, and instead of seeing the desolate landscape that was really there, I pictured all the trees and greenery of the town I wanted to live in. I pictured myself doing dishes in a different sink. I went outside and pictured a different yard. As the days went by, my attitude got better and better. I had more and more faith.
One day, my Dad came to visit. He was in the process of re-locating. He had just bought some land and was waiting for the paperwork to go through. We all decided to take a trip up to Montana while he waited. As we were driving around in the town I wanted to live in, I saw a rental on the side of town I wanted, on my favourite street!
I told my husband we should call. We immediately got into an argument about how we didn’t have any money and he didn’t see the point in it. I knew this, but I also knew we had to Act like what we already wanted was assured!
Weeks went by while my dad waited for his land to go through. One day he pulled me aside and said, “You know, I don’t know how long this is gonna take, and it’s getting to late in the season to build on the property so I can live there. Why don’t we use some of the money I saved and move you guys up here before the weather gets bad.”
Well, I refused several times, until finally, he wouldn’t take no for an answer! We called the rental that was on my favourite street. While the landlord called our referrals, I wrote down my name and the address of the rental over and over again on a piece of paper.
Needless to say, we got the house! But not before the landlady said, “You know, this house usually rents so fast because of the location, it’s been vacant for two months! Thats never happened before.
So now I live in my favourite town, on my favourite street! Every time I pass by my windows I see beautiful trees! The whole process took about 3 weeks.
