Here is a story based on my personal ‘real life” experience. So for people those people who do not know; After graduating from an architecture college, the ones who wish to pursue a Masters from a college within India, always wish for a good GATE rank, and admission into any one of the good institutes. Thankfully, I have gotten both. Some call me lucky and I accept that but more than luck, it was my belief in a book that helped me create my own future.

A few months back I read the bestselling book The Secret. The biggest thanks that I owe is to Rhonda Byrne who worked to and made the world aware of The Secret. I was introduced to this amazing book when I was in class 11th studying in SMC. But as we all are aware, humans do know what is good for them but sometimes we hardly follow. We all know exercising regularly and eating healthy is good for health but tend to not always being able to follow it. Thanks to my grandmother, my beloved Dadda who is in her late 70s, I read this book and was re-introduced to the book, which has proved to be a boon for me. When I started preparing for GATE 2017, she guided me on how to keep studying and working hard but also understand the contents of this book and apply the process of it to achieving my goal.

On January 1st 2017, I wrote my goal and pasted it on a wall in front of me to achieve an all India Rank below 50 in the forthcoming exam.  At first I had very little belief and some fear in my heart that would I be able to do it. The exam and result were scheduled on 4th Feb ’17 and 28th March ’17 respectively. And as per the book, I continued studying and also writing that I have achieved Air below 50 in GATE 2017 and it happened exactly like I had imagined and written. On 27th May 2017 the results were announced and Air-48 was achieved!!

After the results were out, I began applying for different universities and once again wrote my goal, my favorite college and again, things happened my way. I wished to study in IIT which I assumed to be the best and starting writing and talking as if I had qualified for IIT and was studying there. Though I filled out the forms for other institutes also, I wanted IIT. As time passed by I got to know that another institute, School Of Planning And Architecture (SPA) was better than IIT and when I was convinced to study in SPA, I changed my goals in my talks and writings with apologies to God for previous confusions.

Since I changed my goals, I got admission in SPA but my name did not come out on the selected list but I was on the waitlisted candidates list. Gradually, my positive self talk and faith in the law of attraction helped me to clear the waitlist and land in the college I wished for: The topmost Architecture institute in India.

Since I have known The Secret of framing my own destiny, I have fallen in love with it. Since January I have made it a point to write any wish that I wish to be fulfilled in my golden diary, as I call it. May it be academics, career, relationships, etc., I have seen The Magic happening.

PS: This book doesn’t mean that it is an alternative to work hard. This book doesn’t asks us to write the goals, stick them up and do nothing.
