What brings you joy?
Submitted by: Maggie
Union City, CAI purchased the CD version of The Secret just about 1 week ago. I listen to it in my car to and from work, every day. I start my day to it, and end my work day to it. It’s been very enlightening.
Today I heard Chapter 10 – What Brings You Joy?
I heard it through and towards the end it asks you to think about what brings you joy. Then it said, if you didn’t know what brought you joy, then just ask and wait for the answer. I had to ask, because I didn’t know what brought me joy.
I have 3 children (17, 19 & 20). My two oldest children are in the US Navy. Son #2 (in Mississippi) has been away from home for 9 months, and Son #1 (in Maryland), 5 months. When they left home, I went through a very intense episode of the “empty nest” syndrome. I miss my boys very much.
Son #2 invited me to go to his base for a “family” weekend in July. They give tours and the time to spend with your loved one, on base. I have been undecided about traveling the long hours. I’d have to travel 6 hours and only be able to spend the weekend, so I just wasn’t sure. It just seemed like not enough time.
Son #1 was to find out about a new job, and possibly leaving Maryland.
Anyways, when I asked the Universe “What brings me joy?”, I asked the question and left it at that. Within 10 minutes of asking, I arrived at my job, logged into my computer, turned on a favorite radio station and a song was playing that had always reminded me of Son #2.
That was my answer: What brings me joy? My children.
I immediately decided I had to go to Mississippi to visit Son #2.
I then logged into my email and had a text message from Son #1 to call him. I did. He shared the news that he was being sent to another school on Tuesday. The school location was in Mississippi, a town near Son #2. Out of all the bases in the USA, he was going to Mississippi for a month. He would be there the week before I was to go to see Son #2.
My god, when I heard him say he would be in Mississippi, I told him I would be able to see him too. What joy!!! I get to be with both of them at the same time. Just by asking the question and waiting for the answer, everything was ALREADY lined up perfectly! I get to see both of my boys in the same weekend.
I immediately felt (and still do) feel so much joy!! Wow, talk about immediately results! I believe. I’ve already created a visual board. It’s exciting knowing “The Secret”. I look forward to posting more messages with my story.
