Waking Up in Athens.
My sister Holly is an amazing swimmer and had been living on the Greek Island of Rhodes. She had gone for her usual early evening swim but on this particular night, she got hit by a speed boat that appeared out of nowhere and basically smashed her to pieces. I got a call from the Port Police who said my sister was in a grave state and unlikely to survive. I remember screaming out loud and then all hell let loose. I ended up boarding a plane to Rhodes not knowing if she would be dead by the time I arrived. The ICU let me go in to see her as she was in such a grave condition. I held her feet which were ice cold and they gradually started to warm up. Maybe there was a glimmer of hope I thought to myself.
The next day her friends took me to the place of the accident and then the phone rang and the hospital told me her heart had ruptured and she needed to be airlifted to Athens and the cost would be £30,000. I felt sick. There was no insurance to cover this as she was living there and being airlifted to another hospital was not part of the EU insurance coverage.
I was staying with a fellow Brightonian who had called me when they had heard of my sister’s terrible accident and offered me a place to stay while I was in Rhodes. As I sat with him and his wife, I said that my sister will die because I can’t get her the 30K needed to save her.
His reply to me was that you have to try your best to get her this money, then if she dies you know you had tried your absolute best. This suddenly changed everything and I went for a coffee with my friend’s daughter and sat silently wondering how on earth to manifest 30K in 1 day!
I imagined the money appearing miraculously into my bank account to pay for her to be airlifted to Athens to get a heart stent. Then I heard this voice telling me to call the newspaper in the UK and tell them my plight and story and see if they could help.
The newspaper picked up the story and all of a sudden it was on all the main News stations and we set up a HelpforHolly funding which went nuts and the money came pouring in from everywhere.
We got a call from the military who then airlifted her to Athens hospital. I went with her and we flew into Athens at 3 am Sunday morning and unbelievably, a famous Greek heart surgeon agreed to operate on a Sunday morning and her life was saved on Sunday, August 4th.
I’d set up a prayer circle and when after 6 weeks she came out of her coma, she told me she had heard all the prayers being held for her. I knew that The Secret had once again worked for us all and the gratitude and relief were incredible. It was a complete miracle!
