My story starts whilst I was lucky enough to be away travelling with my job.

I decided I wanted to be more settled, create a base and have some stability in one place. I had always wanted to be a midwife but the intake for a midwifery course is very small and very competitive, around 3000 apply for 70 places. And, although I have transferable skills, I don’t have any practical maternity experience.

I’d just finished reading The Secret which was found in a random draw, it found me! I knew all I had to do was ask, believe and then I would receive.

I knew there was only one uni I wanted to study at but the closing date for applications had already passed. I filled in the application for my chosen uni and sent it off anyway.

Every day I visualized how proud I was having my family watch me graduate. I saw myself as a qualified midwife, working in a birthing unit, connecting with women and families. I could feel the pen in my hand as I wrote the notes for my patients. I could smell that hospital smell, feel the sun shining through the window onto my face and taste the tea I was having on my break. I told everyone I spoke to that my place had been confirmed as I knew it would be.

Once home I continued to visualize every day and I received an email inviting me to a late applicant interview for a place on their waiting list. I didn’t even allow doubts or nerves to enter my thoughts as I knew the place was already mine.

I received an email saying that I had passed the interview and would placed on the waiting list, the uni would be in touch in around 6 weeks if there was a place for me.

6 weeks later I received the phone call, accepted the offer of a place and I started my dream course last week!!

It really works! I cannot thank The Secret enough for educating me and allowing my dreams to come true.
