At 53 years old I’ve spent the better half of my life on a journey of self discovery, seeking to deepen my spiritual understanding and know true inner peace. My spiritual quest has led me to numerous great teachings and teachers, and while the concept of “positive thinking” is/was one with which I am familiar, true success has eluded me for a lifetime. Countless years of therapy, self-help, meditation, prayer, affirmations, and a plethora of self improvement methodologies all intermittently effective to free from the bondage of the memories of a violent and abusive childhood/adolescence.

“When the student is ready……” I felt as though the Universe took me by the hand to peruse an exhibit of some of the most profound teachers, each one imparting an awesome lesson then sending me on to the next teacher, slowly yet steadily directing me toward my final destination: The Secret. I first watched a 20 minute clip, moved beyond words, it felt as though a puzzle had come together that explained the preceding weeks in which I had experienced a few astonishing events.

I immediately ordered the video and book online. Unable to wait for them to arrive, that evening I went to a local bookstore, read the entire book, took notes, and returned home and began my new journey. I spent hours on The Secret website; I read stories, reviewed video clips, and of particular interest, was the downloadable “Check.” I printed the check, filled in the amount of $1,000, and taped it to the bookshelf next to my bed so it was the first thing I saw each morning.

The following Monday during an appointment with a client for whom I’d been doing contract work for the past one and a half years, I was informed they no longer needed my services, however did not want to leave me “high & dry.” The client requested that that I leave the direct mail pieces and newsletters that I’d designed and written on a computer in her office and stated that she’d like to give me some money. After a slightly uncomfortable quiet, momentary pause, she then proceeded to tell me she wanted to give me $1,000. Astonishing… NO! Law of Attraction… YES!

For the past few weeks I have been following a diligent regime of morning and evening meditations that includes various chants/mantras, visualization, and I’ve been adamant about keeping my thoughts positive, knowing that what I “feed” grows. I’d already experienced some amazing occurrences, such as reminiscing about a group home that I’d worked at twenty-seven years prior while driving down the freeway, only to arrive home that evening to a message on my Facebook from a man asking if I worked at the specific group home many years ago. That man was one of the 16 year old boys to whom I was a counselor. Most ironic, that group home was two hours from the town in which I currently live; that “boy,” now a grown man with children, now lives in the same town as I live. That same day he had joined Facebook and my profile had appeared on his Facebook page. I hadn’t lived in the town of that group home in over eleven years, but most amazing, I hadn’t seen him in twenty-seven years.

As I reflect on the previous few weeks, the list is quite long of people, things, and situations that have “shown up” in my world as a result of positive thoughts. From people reappearing, to five job interviews in one week, to exact amounts of cash requested.

I am elated and feel as though The Secret has truly given me a road map with specific instructions on how to undo much of the negativity that I have attracted into my life, as well as help me to charter a new course on attracting my heart’s desires. I am on to addressing other areas of my life using the strategies and methodologies of The Secret.
