Things Come In Three.
Submitted by: Jen E.
Kitchener, OntarioI have my B.Ed. and other training certifications. I love my job of working with people who are looking to get back into the work force. My passion is helping others achieve their goals. I also am a proud mother of an 8 year old son. He is very smart with a great sense of humour and continually challenges me each day. I have been on my own for three years raising my son as a full time single parent. I have three jobs and I took us to Cuba this year.
My mother always told me that things come in three, good or bad. This story I want to share is about a good one.
About three years ago, I ended a relationship with my fiance. I wasn’t happy and felt like I had somehow lost myself in that relationship. I was in a job making minimal wage and was very scared to move out on my own. My son was only 5 at that time, too.
I ended up finding an apartment to move into that was offering a deal to only pay last month’s rent. I got the apartment, ended the relationship and moved out. I struggled. Being a full time single mother on minimum wage was not easy. I lived this way for two years. Needless to say, I could not afford the nicest apartment and it was definitely not in a safe area.
Around Christmas of a 2014, someone told me about The Secret. I read the book and watched the video. I starting thinking about the things I wanted, instead of the things I didn’t want. I wanted to provide a better life for my son and I. I started imagining my dream job and money. I wrote a list of what I wanted to achieve and stuck it to the fridge so I could see it every day.
In June 2015, I was offered three jobs that came around the same time. One allowed me to work from home later in the evenings when my son was asleep, another allowed me to work at least once a month on a Saturday and another was a full time permament job during the week. All of the jobs required the education I had and all paid extremely well.
It’s just over a year later and I am sitting here in September 2015 and managing to still make all three jobs work. In March 2015, I had saved enough to take my son and I to Cuba. But best of all, in July 2014, these things literally happened all in the same day: I met with a real estate agent, I got approved for a mortgage, found a beautiful two bedroom condo in a better area, made an offer and it was accepted!
I moved out of my apartment two weeks later and into the condo. I’m maintaining the jobs, have my condo for my son and I am saving for a trip to Mexico next March break. I also just bought a new car!
I’m so thankful for the message that The Secret gives. It’s a very positive way to look at life. Well, I guess my mother always said things come on three.
