The first time I heard Yiruma play ‘River Flows in You,’ something stirred inside me. I was drawn to the melody and indulged in the music completely. I was fascinated by the way energy flowed through his fingertips. To me, music is like a language written by God that heals all broken souls. So I decided to learn piano, even though I had no idea how I was gonna afford it.

Every time I put on my headphones and played ‘River Flows in You,’ I would close my eyes and see my fingers moving gracefully around the zebra keys. I could feel the touch of the keys, which were smooth and a little weighted. Nonetheless, it was a beautiful picture.

In the following days, I continued with my daily life. I meditated in the mornings and practiced contentment. I completely forgot about the piano.

You can probably guess what happened next. I got a four-day job that’s enough to pay for a 68-key keyboard. Although it doesn’t sound as good as a real piano does, still, my wish came true! I saw my fingers playing on the zebra keys again. Only this time, it was real.

A couple of months later, I’m playing ‘River Flows in You,’ just like I had imagined.
