The Universe Had My Back!
It is very rare that I share things like this, but as I was reading some of your stories today, I felt inspired.
So, I had borrowed a company vehicle to do some work. The only one available was a hybrid, which is fine in most cases, but I had to do some work in the National Forest. Usually I use a truck. However, I was able to stick to paved roads and was enjoying the beautiful afternoon.
I rounded one corner and could not avoid a pile of rocks in the street. A few seconds later I heard the inevitable thumping noise of a flat tire. Damn! It was late in the afternoon and I didn’t like the idea of changing a tire particularly since it was getting cold. I walked to the back of the car, opened the trunk and quickly discovered that hybrid cars are not equipped with spare tires. Instead I found a can of fix-a-flat! You are kidding me, right?
In the meantime, a nice couple stopped to see if I needed help. We tried to fix the flat but the stuff wouldn’t work. Now I have to add that in this area there is no cell phone service! I was beginning to panic. But that was where the Universe had my back. In a desperate attempt, I looked at my phone and saw two bars. I called the wrecker company and the nice couple left.
Meanwhile, as I sat looking out over the valley below I could see the various lights from the city blinking. I imagined the people below getting ready for dinner, coming home, etc. But then I received a call from the tow truck driver. He couldn’t find me. Now usually, if they can’t find you in the forest they’ll leave. It sounds horrible but it’s true. I described the area I was in to the best of my ability and the truck driver agreed to continue on.
I sat in the car as darkness loomed. I was scared and alone. I had to fight off the images of bad things happening to me. News stories of the biologist lost in the forest! But then I started visualizing the tow truck driving around the corner. I focused on how I would feel once he arrived. I imagined myself driving with the driver as he towed my useless vehicle to my home.
Fortyfive minutes went by, then an hour. I wouldn’t allow myself to imagine him turning around and leaving. I kept my vision on seeing that truck. My visualization was very realistic, so when I saw the lights in the distance I thought it was just another vision. I blinked several times, and yes! It was happening just as I had imagined! I flashed my headlights and jumped out of my car. I jumped up and down clapping my hands! I have never felt such a sense of relief!
Before I knew it, my car was on the truck and we were headed out of the forest and into the city below.
The next day, I drove back to that same spot, in my truck this time, of course. No cell signal. In fact no cell signal for miles and miles from that spot.
It truly was the Universe at work. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Thank you for The Secret!
