I had known about the power of positive thinking and “not looking down” throughout, my life but was always dogged by anxiety and a low self opinion. This manifested itself during school where I went from high achiever to under achiever when under real pressure.

I had tried counselling and therapy which helped but after I was positive for a while about any project in my life, doubts always crept in with the result that I was never very far away from depression. I felt that life was a struggle.

I got my dream job as a teacher and made a great start but my confidence wasn’t strong enough and I eventually got a reputation as someone who always needed help and advice, not someone to be trusted to do the job well. Obviously, I brought this on by my real lack of confidence – teaching is impossible without it!

I always believed that I was destined to do the job – when things went right I felt truly satisfied with my life and could never imagine another profession in which I could receive the same feelings. However, I was always plagued by self-doubt and this resulted in my being a mediocre teacher overall– something which broke my heart, day in, day out.

I realised a move back home, away from the first school was what I truly wanted and in the intervening period I found The Secret. The realisation that I had the power to do anything was amazing and I loved the idea. However, my thinking patterns tended to be negative and hormonal imbalances also affected me. I started to doubly blame myself for anything bad that happened to me and negative thoughts quickly spiralled down to the point where I felt almost suicidal on a few occasions.

At my lowest point, I had been complained about at work, I had unwanted communication from an ex and I had been left alone over the holidays for a week in which I became introverted and depressed. I couldn’t stop crying and the pain I was experiencing was almost unbearable to me. In the end I asked God for help. I didn’t know how it would happen, but I knew I needed help and left it in God’s hands. I instantly had a great day at work and saw more of my friends. I worked hard and felt truly confident. I thanked God several times a day. This was the help I needed: ask believe and receive.

After that, I truly used the power of The Secret. Things improved dramatically. I would think of upcoming situations which were a source of anxiety and think of exactly what I wanted to happen. I would ask God for it and prepare myself. And guess what? Things improved; I instantly became a better teacher and put all of my positive energy into achieving that goal. I realised that it was something I had to remember every day and spent my mornings thinking of what I had to be grateful for, visualising what I wanted and feeling love for the things in my life.

I knew that getting a job where I am from was full of competition, but I believed in myself and loved the idea. I passionately believed I would be a fantastic teacher and give all I had to that job.

Well, I cried when I found out I had got the job I applied for. Now I AM an excellent teacher. I give advice to others rather than just receiving it and my abilities are praised by my colleagues. All of my experiences in the past have prepared me for this vocation and I love what I do.

I truly have to thank Rhonda and The Secret team for bringing this power to my life and I am so glad now that I live this way.
