5 years ago my eldest son was playing goal for his rep hockey team in the playoffs. Halfway through the game he pulled himself out (unheard of!) and hobbled to the bench…he could not walk on his left leg. We went to the doctor thinking it was an injury…rest and pain medication did not help. Finally I asked to take him for physiotherapy, where a therapist and resident doctor diagnosed AVN (vasculor necrosis) of the left hip… there was no femoral cap left! He was 14 years old, an athlete going off to high school and was devastated. The doctors said no weight bearing for 2 years… no sports of any kind and we would wait to see how the hip developed. First we had to go through various tests for cancer and diseases etc. All were negative… the bone was left to see if it would regenerate and then possibly we would look at surgery.

I never entertained any other thoughts other than his hip would recover. He was steadfast in his patience to see this through to a healthy hip….not only did the bone regenerate but the cartiledge stayed in place and the femoral cap replaced itself perfectly….no surgery! It was a long hard 2 years but the “Secret” of our thoughts brought us through. That was enough for me. But it doesn’t end there… he was allowed to go back to non contact sports… he concentrated on golf. He announced that he wanted to try to play on an American college golf team with a scholarship. He is now 19 and just finished his freshman year at a Division 1 school in Pennsylvania playing golf. He plays at a 2 handicap. The power of positive thinking and pure belief cannot be underestimated.

I just recently was given a copy of The Secret since I was going through my own health crisis (which has turned out fine) and realized as I read it that through that whole time period the “Secret” was with us. Believe!
