The Secret Reins In My Dream Horses!
Submitted by: Ellie S
Smithville, TNI'm a happily married, retired 69 years young lady who worked at Vanderbilt University News and Public Affairs Dept., and later as a personal fitness trainer. I love nature, reading, waterskiing and learning new things. We don't have children, but our horses fill that space in our hearts. I've long believed in positive thinking, my Mom loved Norman Vincent Peale. But it wasn't until The Secret that it morphed beyond thinking into 'feeling power'. That's been the true reward for me.
My passion for horses came late in life, but using The Secret to manifest my dream horse has made me feel young again! Thanks to a daily infusion of Rhonda’s books, apps, videos, etc., I continue basking in the glow of gratitude: a reward unto itself.
For example, I’d listed the qualities I desired in my dream horse, found a corresponding photo and faithfully visualized what I wanted: A bombproof buckskin gelding, about 14 hands tall, in excellent health with a loving temperament. I prepared the stable and purchased tack, etc.
One day I found an ad for a rescue horse that met my criteria, except that it was a mare, not a gelding. It was love at first sight for me! I was overwhelmed with a desire to take care of Koko; and she was indeed a sweet ride. I was thanking God and overjoyed, despite her gender.
About a month later, I learned Koko was pregnant! Using the exercise from The Magic about listing 10 positive things while having a seemingly negative situation, encouraged me. I didn’t know who or what the father was. Others were teasing that I’d probably get a mule. Even the vet suggested the foal could have neurological damage if Koko had been bred to one of her offspring. As Rhonda suggests, I turned away from their negativity. I did not resist it or give it energy so it would fade away quickly.
For months, I walked Koko and talked to her about having a healthy buckskin colt, which would make it easier to find him a good home. My chant became “Beautiful baby buckskin boy, both are healthy, we are wealthy.”. Being wealthy sure helps when it comes to providing horse care! I also decided the only way I would keep the colt was if it was a buckskin with some white.
Finally, one predawn day on an April morning, Koko gave birth to a buckskin boy colt! He was so healthy, he was walking and nursing within 30 minutes. And, he had a big white star between his eyes! Soon the naysayers marveled over my “good luck”, and some wanted to adopt him.
I’m so grateful for this experience because it challenged me to become stronger in using The Secret by having faith, visualizing, posting pictures in my vision notebook, using The Secret Shifters, re-reading my gratitude journals, etc. One of my favorite tips in the 10th anniversary edition of The Secret is to “Stop listening to the negative commentary in your head.”
Today, when I gaze out over the paddock watching my “miracle baby”, now a gelding, grazing by his mother’s side, I’m overwhelmed with joy. Robert Louis Stevenson said, “Sit loosely in the saddle of life.” Relax, believe, receive. Thanks to The Secret Supporters everywhere who have inspired and encouraged me as I ride happily into my sunset years. Love to all!
