A friend of mine gave me The Secret in 2007. I had just resigned from a job after 7 years, and was home on vacation at the time. The DVD sat in one of my drawers, and despite my friend urging me to watch it, I kept putting it off. Finally one day I decided to watch it.

I was leaving for a new job in a couple of weeks, and decided to try The Secret techniques and to project positive thoughts and goals about my new job. My new job was a very well paid, but highly challenging sales job on board cruise ships, in which I had to give sales seminars to hundreds of people, and our sales targets were in the 100,000’s of dollars for our clients. It was a high pressure job where failure is just not acceptable.

Before leaving for the sales training (after which the job was not guaranteed, even though we had to pay for our own flights to the USA), I kept mentally projecting how I was going to be a hit at the training, and be assigned a good ship and then do a great job and make loads of money.
I did this quite a few times.

Once the ball got rolling, I have to say that I completely forgot about The Secret, and it wasn’t until months later that it came back to me. I was sitting in the office of one of our sales clients in Cozumel, Mexico, when I looked up at the wall and saw a $1 note with 00,000 written behind the 1, and The Secret suddenly came back to me, and I started laughing. I suddenly realised that everything I had projected had happened.

I arrived at the training and found that everything they were teaching I had already learnt in my previous jobs. The company loved me and I breezed through the training. At the end of the week, I was pulled aside and told I had done great and they were assigning me to one of their best ships, which did not normally happen for first timers.

My first month on the ship I made $20,000 in commission, far exceeded my sales targets, and the management on board the ship were extremely happy with my performance, some saying that I was the best person in that position that they had ever worked with.

I sat in that office in Cozumel and just laughed, and could not believe how well The Secret had worked for me.

I have since applied it to other areas of my life, to try and improve my relationships and also my sense of happiness.

This year I travelled all over the world, and that was another of my goals.
