The Secret Leads To A New Job And New Car.
Submitted by: Mallory S.
Zanesville, OHI live with my husband and three children on a farm. We are very normal people just trying to have and keep our little slice of happiness in life.
I was a stay at home mom and had just had a baby in February of 2013. We already have 2 children and my husband was going to school full time and working full time and we were having trouble keeping up with our bills. For the first time ever, we had to go on assistance and that tore my husband to pieces. He wanted to quit school and get another job so he could provide for his family as he felt a man should.
I had to continuously remind him that quitting school now would only help us in the short term. I told him I would look for a job and that we would somehow make it work with a babysitter. I applied for a position within the university and got an interview but never got the job. My husband came to me one day saying we were going to win the lottery. “Average, everyday people like us win all the time! Why not us?” So with that thought, we began affirming to each other every day how we are going to win and the things we would do with the money.
One day I told my mom about our future lottery winnings and to my surprise she was on board! She began telling me about a woman who had read this book and long story short, won the lottery. Of course we all know what book she read was. My mother said she had never read it, but heard it was great.
That day I went to the library in search of The Secret. I found it right away and flipped through a few pages throughout the book and was blown away. This book was affirming everything my husband and I had been saying to each other! When I left the library I took the book straight to my husband who was working a double and told him to read it. He got through almost the whole book in the second half of his 16 hour shift.
About two days later and after finishing reading The Secret twice, I got a call from the university offering me the job I had applied for months earlier. I was thrilled! It really works!!!
So of course my husband and I started putting up signs all over our house for things we wanted and spoke about them all the time. The one thing I concentrated on the most was a new car. I knew both of our cars were not going to hold up too much longer and we couldn’t keep putting money into them. Every time I got in the car I imagined the new car smell, the smooth ride and MY hands gripped around that new strafing wheel.
4 months later I was on my way home from work and I hit a van that was pulling out around a blind corner. No one was hurt but his insurance covered us getting a rental car. That rental was a 2014 Ford Fusion. Man was it a nice ride! Everything I imagined came true except the ownership part of it. We spoke to Enterprise car rentals about having to find a new vehicle and he told us they actually have a place in Columbus where they sell the rentals they no longer need.
Long story short, we are now driving a 2012 Chevy Malibu that we own!! We were only on assistance for 3 months and my husband is still working hard on his law degree! I love my job and we are doing much better as a family.
Thank you for reading my story!
