I started practicing The Secret over a year ago, particularly when I really, really wanted to achieve a goal. For the past year, I have often expressed interest to work for one of the biggest newspapers in the UK, referring to it as my “dream company” to work for. Then one day, completely out of the blue, I heard about a job going at this newspaper from a friend of mine. I was so excited when she put me in contact with the recruitment agency but this didn’t last very long… I was told by the agency that it was too late for me to apply and they didn’t put my CV forward. But I just couldn’t give up on my dream.

I contacted the newspaper directly and asked them to consider my CV for the role. I kept visualising and praying for the opportunity to meet them for an interview, and a couple of days later I was invited in for an interview for the following week!!

I couldn’t believe my luck! Meanwhile, I kept praying and visualising about my dream job, when suddenly, that same week, the recruitment agency who told me that it was too late to apply for the position, called me back to inform me of an even better job at the same newspaper, a more prestigious title than the one I already had an interview for.

Within one week, not only did I have one interview with my dream company but two!! Both interviews went extremely well, but I had my heart set on the second one… it was everything I could ask for in a job, it was so perfect. It felt like someone had created it especially for me! So I visualised and prayed, imagining walking into my new office, setting up my desk. I went so far as writing my resignation for my current position and buying loads of new office clothes for my new job. I didn’t give up hope, I knew in my heart this job was mine, I believed that it was my fate and trusted that the universe would deliver my dream to me.

But after a few days of practicing The Secret, I didn’t hear back from them and I started getting disheartened. I tried to stay positive and I kept following The Secret… I didn’t want to give up. Then that’s when it happened… the phone call I had been waiting for. My heart stopped as they told me the good news that I had been repeating over and over in my head the past few days. I was so thankful.
