The Realization That The Secret Works.
Submitted by: Jayne. S
England UKI'm 42, single and have a love for life. I love travelling and meeting new people.
I thought I had my dream job when I moved to New Zealand back in 2011. I was a senior Cabin attendant for a ferry company and although I enjoyed the job, I was not quite fulfilled. Many years before I had an idea of becoming a paramedic but that was quickly brushed away, as back then I had an inferiority complex. I never thought I was brainy enough, and I had no qualifications, so that was that.
Then one night I was sitting in the shop on board the ship I worked on and I suddenly felt sad. I was seriously getting bored of this job but I couldn’t really do much about it as I had everything I wanted at the time. I had a beautiful apartment overlooking Wellington Harbour. I had my promotion to Senior. I had money in the bank and I was going for a New Zealand residency. Life was good but I missed home in the UK. I was feeling stuck and unfulfilled.
On this particular night, one of my cabin attendants came up to me and asked if I was ok and I told her how I was feeling. Then she asked me if I’d read The Secret., I said no but it sounded interesting. She went away and came back with this book, The Secret.
I read it with intent and something changed inside me like a fire. From now on I was only going to think positive thoughts and I will be a Paramedic one day!
Within 6 months I had moved back to the UK, and enrolled in college to do an access course. It was hard being a student again but I was determined I was going to qualify before I was 40. Those college years were hard financially. I worked 2 jobs and didn’t have a permanent home. I was even homeless for a short time while I lived in my car. But I kept picturing myself driving an ambulance through the countryside and I pictured my Paramedic epaulets on my shoulders.
When I got into uni for the first time, I had visualized myself wearing a cap and gown and graduating with honors, and any of my little seeds of doubt were pushed aside. I thought about The Secret and how it had worked for me so far.
Six years later I was celebrating my graduation and my 40th birthday surrounded by family and friends. I did it! I am a qualified Paramedic! Just before the end of the course, we were asked where we wanted to work. I always loved Dorset in the UK and Weymouth was my dream destination to live. I had been warned that the waiting list for Weymouth was at least 2 years as it was a seaside town.
Then I got a phone call, the lady on the end of the phone sounded excited and told me to sit down. She then told me that I had been excepted into Weymouth to start as an NQP, or Newly Qualified Paramedic.
I’ve been a Paramedic now for 2 years. The other day I was driving the ambulance through the countryside and I realized in that moment that this is what I had pictured in my head all those years ago! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Thank you to Rhonda, and thank you to the Universe. I am so grateful and happy! The Secret changed my life. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
