The Phoenix Must Rise.

Leeds ukI was raised in negative surroundings and at the time I liked it and so this is what I attracted to me. But, there was a little positive seed in me that started to grow when I read The Secret. It was nutrients for the seed to feed on and before I knew it I was on my way.
I was born in Bradford, UK and I lived in an alcohol fuelled household with cannabis and other drugs. I wanted the best of material things growing up like nice clothes and the other perks. But I was living in a negative area so the people that I was surrounded by were drug dealers and armed robbers. I did not know that I was on a similar frequency, sending out energy that said that I wanted to be like these people. Before I knew it, I was selling cannabis and other narcotics. I was not grateful for the things I had and so it kept me away from the things I wanted.
Before I knew it, I was doing ten years of time in prison for armed robbery. Then one day a kid came to me on the prison wing and asked me what I wanted for my life. I said that I would just like to stay out of prison and have a job and live my life. Then he passed me a book called The Secret. I thought it was just one of these boring self-help books but nope! From the very first page, I was captured by the quotes and the stories in it. All of that was true for me too.
I told my father about the book and he said, “Oh yeah, I have the full collection of The Secret series here” and he sent them to me. I read all of them then I went about my daily life using the words and lessons from them in all the situations in my life. It was hard at first because no one is in prison for being positive. When you try to tell this to people in prison most of them will not listen and it hurt. But I just thought that it was just not time for them to read this at this point in their journey, so kept it to myself.
And before I even knew it, I was writing my own book about decision making. I wrote a song about using The Secret and it gave people the shivers when they listened to it because they could relate to my story.
Then I was finally released from prison. I can say that I am 29 years old and have been in prison 15 times. I had never been out of prison for more than a few months from the ages of 12 to 29. I did 13 years all in all but this time was different. This time I had an ancient message embedded into me. I am so grateful for the kid that passed me The Secret book that day because now I am engaged to be married. Now I have a good paying job and this has been the longest I have ever been out of prison. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
If we choose to change and take the steps to be grateful for the things we have, other things will certainly follow.
