After watching The Secret I have to admit I was feeling even more negative than before. I was thinking “this could never work for me”. But then I asked for a sign, a sign that would make me realize that it COULD work for me, and right then I remembered.

When I was 6 years old I went to church one day. It was a special occasion and all the other little girls were wearing these beautiful dresses. My family couldn’t afford to buy me anything nice at that time as we were really poor. All the clothes I had to wear were things other people had donated to us, which I was very grateful for but sometimes it felt like it would be nice to have something new.

Anyways, there was this one girl who had the most perfect beautiful dress and shoes I had ever seen. In my mind I kept thinking they were Cinderella’s dress and shoes. I really really loved that dress. I knew if I told my mom about the dress and how much I loved it then she would go out of her way to buy it for me because she was so kind hearted. But I didn’t want her to have to trouble herself with the expense so I kept it to myself.

The next day though, I prayed for that dress. I visualized being in that beautiful dress and having those beautiful shoes. I was so happy, I felt like Cinderella in my mind. In the middle of my visualization, literally two minutes later, my mom yelled my name and told me to come help her with the groceries. I opened my eyes and went to the front door and there she was with the groceries and a Macy’s bag “I found a very pretty dress for you, it was 75% off and it was the last one”.

I opened the Macy’s bag and there it was! The EXACT dress I wanted. The EXACT shoes I wanted. I couldn’t believe it, it was the most magical day of my life.

Now every time I start to lose faith I remember that experience. I know everyone must have a story like that. If you start to lose faith just ask for a sign, ask for a memory that will give you faith again.
