My husband works in the airline industry and through his staff benefits, we are incredibly privileged to get highly discounted flights.

When we book these highly discounted flights, a seat is not always confirmed and therefore we’ll be on standby. The airline will only confirm our seats when we arrive at the airport on the day of departure.

I was flying from Melbourne to Bali on a standby flight with my son. I had done everything to prepare for our trip and was really looking forward to being reunited with our friends and spending a beautiful 3 week holiday in my home away from home.

We had a setback only a few days before our departure date. The original flight that we booked for that Wednesday ended up getting fully booked. So we had to change the flight to a few days earlier on a Sunday because the flight had better availability.

We booked the same hotel for an additional 3 nights and all the accommodation bookings were non-refundable. I had also already organized our driver in Bali to pick us up from the airport. Therefore I was determined to get on the flight.

The night before our departure day my husband informed me that our flight was not showing on his system and the airline website. That meant there were no more seats available all of a sudden. I told him to still keep our booking.

It’s quite common for people to not show up for their flight for whatever reason. And we only needed two seats to become available.

I had also done everything to prepare for the flight and our holiday so I just told myself and my husband, “I’ve already done everything to prepare for this trip so there’s no reason why we wouldn’t get on the flight.”.

I stayed positive and visualized being in Bali, greeting my driver, and smelling the nostalgic air which kept me determined that we would get on the flight.

In the morning we got ready and headed to the airport. As we checked in, the customer service representative informed us that we were numbers 7 and 8 on the standby list and had to wait until all full-fare passengers had checked in.

After speaking to one of the standby passengers I found out there were 17 people on standby for this fully booked flight.

I still truly believed we would get on this flight even against the odds. And guess what? We did! There were 32 full-fare passengers that did not show up for their flights!

I was filled with this overwhelming feeling of joy and relief. I had a tremendous amount of gratitude for every individual that helped us to get to that point. And of course to the Universe for listening to my wishes and thankfulness.

From this experience, I learned that I can manifest whatever I want. I have the ability to control situations that most people would not believe. If you take a risk you might be surprised by the outcome. And if you want something to happen in your life you have to truly believe in it.
