Two years ago, I was a 3rd year law student about to start applying for internship positions. The number of internships at the big law firms is limited and the recruitment process is very competitive. I was extremely stressed because I had average grades and, unlike my classmates who had travelled the world, gone on foreign exchange, or volunteered in the third world, my resume/cv was pretty bland.

One day, I was sitting in the student lounge, feeling sorry for myself, when I overheard two students talking about how they were going to use The Secret to get internships. I did not understand what they meant because, before that point, I had seen people reading The Secret on the bus or subway, but I had thought that it was a novel! My curiosity was now tickled.

A few days later, we were all sent an e-mail by the career development office giving tips on how to land an internship position. Tip number 6 was “while you’re in the interview, act like you already have the job, as described in the book, The Secret”.

Now, I HAD to get the book! Here, I was in this moment of despair, and out of nowhere, this book had been mentioned twice in a week!

I rushed to the bookstore and got it! And the principles in it all made so much sense. I had long suspected the power of thoughts on the body and in creating illness (because I was once a hypochondriac, and once I took control of my thoughts, I gained control of my body)! I was now excited about the internship process!

I used the law of attraction when writing my cover letters, I used gratitude when I was offered interviews at several firms, I used visualization just before the cocktails…the techniques in the Secret guided me through the process!…And out of over 300 students that applied to the law firm of my dreams, I was one of only 4 who were selected to intern there! “Out of nothing, out of no way, a way was made” for me!

I am using the law of attraction right now, hoping that this story will be posted on the Secret’s website, to inspire others to apply the laws of the universe and to hold on to them, even after your wishes have been granted.
