The Giving Tree Grows

Deerfield Beach, FLI am a Born-Again-Believer! The Secret was not new to me-- I just needed a refresher course. I am extremely grateful everyday for your reminder and for the joy it has brought to my life.
During the holidays there was a giving tree at our local department store and my son asked me about this tree. I explained that the names on the tree were the names of children who might not receive gifts. My son thought about this for all of a second and then insisted that we pick a name and buy gifts.
My immediate thought: how do I buy a gift for another child when I wasn’t entirely sure if I would be able to buy my own child a gift for Christmas? I couldn’t explain this to my son without taking away the magic of Christmas. He wanted to give – how could I say no to that? I watched my son pick out gifts for a little boy whom we did not know and would never meet. He was so very excited and thrilled that he was going to make someone’s Christmas morning “berry especial”. His excitement was utterly contagious! It was nice to forget all of my previous concerns and just focus on the joy of giving and of sharing that joy with my little man. I thought that perhaps this moment was my Christmas gift from above and was thankful to be receiving this gift.
Two days later I received a phone call from a different department store. My name had been drawn for a cash giveaway. I forgot that I had entered the drawing a month earlier. We received all that we had given three times over!
My son knew The Secret before I had ever watched the movie. I truly believe that children inherently know The Secret. As children ourselves, we were probably more in tune with The Secret and with the universe. It’s time to get back to that mindset: share everything, keep joy and gratitude in your heart and simply BELIEVE that anything and everything is possible!
