The Epic Dramas of a Graduate!:-D
Submitted by: Shweta D.
IndiaAn eternally optimistic 21 year old. I believe that life has great adventures in store for me. I'm going to travel the world with the love of my life, be rich, successful and HAPPY! :-D
After graduation, I was as clueless as your average 21 year old. To make matters worse, I had been dumped by the love of my life. After 4 years of a rocky, long-distance relationship, he decided to call it quits, get on with his life and start dating someone else. It didn’t help that she was drop-dead gorgeous with a complexion to die for!
For 2 months I was depressed and on a downward spiral. On the verge of losing my mind, all I could think about was him. Where everyone I knew was either travelling, working or studying for entrance exams, here I was crying into my pillow every night. Add to that nagging parents and concerned friends, urging me to get on with my life. How could I, when he was my life?
Finally, a friend of a friend suggested reading The Secret. It’ll change your life, she said. Desperate that I was to be put out of my misery, I ravished the book and soon enough, began applying its ideas in my daily life. I got up each day, feeling grateful to be young, happy and in love. Instead of picturing him with his girlfriend, I began picturing us together. I imagined him calling and texting, going on romantic dates, being ecstatically happy. I went to bed with a broad grin on my face. Gone were the long, lonely nights with my tear-stained pillows!
Hardly a few days later, he called. We started talking and subsequently met. The smile on his handsome face matched the brightness of a 100 watt bulb! He said he wasn’t happy with her and that he still loved me. I was on cloud 9. The Secret really worked! We started dating, taking baby steps and getting to know each other once again. Needless to say, everything worked out just fine. 🙂
As for finding a direction in life, I realized that it was more important to do things that I loved than blindly follow in people’s footsteps! With the love of my life by my side, I chalked out a plan for the future. I was going to become a successful entrepreneur. Of course I’m only 21 so I probably have a long way to go before you read about me in the papers, but if The Secret’s taught me anything its that miracles do really happen. Anything is possible if you believe in your dreams and more importantly, in yourself!
Cheers to Rhonda Byrne for truly making this world a happier place! 😀
