My story started some 7 years ago, whilst in the realms of divorce I decided to buy a dog, for me! After careful consideration of breeds, I found a breed which suited all my family needs. I was recommended to a breeder a distance away, who kindly told me that a new litter was being born but there were 6 people in line before me, so I was not guaranteed a puppy.

I went to see her and I told her that I wanted a female, in apricot colour. Her reply was that the likelihood of getting an apricot was zero to about 5%, as the parents were dark and the 6 people before me all wanted female.

I stuck by my decision and she said she would ring me when the litter was born. Several months later, I got a surprising call. There were 7 puppies, 4 female, 6 were black and one was apricot.

She rang everyone before me on the list and none wanted a female apricot, they would rather have a male puppy, so it was mine if I wanted. I had to pick her up at the same time and day as everyone else, she was gorgeous. Everyone kept saying they wish they had gone for the apricot, but she was mine.

She has been my companion, security, comforter and enjoyment for 6 1/2 years and I wouldn’t be without her. I call her my little guardian.
