Back in September 1996 I was driving along the highway when I noticed a beautiful red sports car. I didn’t recognize the car’s make, model or year – I only recognized that it was gorgeous!!!!

When I got home I shared this vision of beauty with my husband, and he merely said, “When you see it again – point it out to me.” Well, about two weeks later I saw the car in a grocery store parking lot. My husband was with me, and I eagerly pointed out the car to him. He then proceeded to look over the car and exclaimed, “Oh my gosh, Bridgette, this is a corvette!” I didn’t care… I knew I wanted one.

But at the time we had just moved to a new state, were barely making ends meet, and trying to save for a home. But, somehow, I knew that car would be mine.

Every weekend I would go to the dealership and look at the new 1997 model of corvette. Sticker shock was soon replaced with visions of me driving that car on the highway, crossing the bay and feeling the seabreeze through my hair.

Well, time passed. We bought and sold two homes and were living in our third – our dream home. We both advanced in our careers and I even obtained my doctorate degree. My parents, knowing how hard it was for me to work full time and go to school full time, wanted to do something spectacular to show their support and praise of me. The day I defended my dissertation my folks took me out to the garage and what do you think I saw…. yep!!! I saw my dream car – a 1997 red corvette, with personalized plates and all. My parents handed me the keys and said, “This baby is paid for and in your name… you have fulfilled our dream, so we want to fulfill yours.”

I never expected the car to be obtained this way. But, remember, the universe handles the how, we just have to handle the “wish”.
